Whammy of the Week

Afternoon sportsfans and happy Hockey Day in Canada!

The Whammy feature here on Stayclassy.net that you have all come to love is undergoing a bit of a change. There now be a Classy Whammy and Non-Classy Whammy each week for you all to compare, contrast, argue over, debate, rejoice and other fancy words Champ is not yet aware of. Enjoy!

This week’s Classy Whammy comes to us from Brian Elliott and the suddenly surging Ottawa Senators against the Chicago Blackhawks. Elliot scrambled to get back into the net and does his best Patrick Roy immitation to rob Marian Hossa of a sure goal. Great stuff.

This week’s Non-Classy Whammy comes courtesy of Alex Auld versus the Vancouver Canucks. Mr. Auld could clearly use a minor novice stick handling clinic because he just looked terrible out there. The Canucks ended up winning this game 4-2.

Good day sports fans, Champ is back from his hiatus! Hope everybody had a great holiday, but let’s get right down to business. There are numerous Whammy’s to go over.

First, a sick sick goal by Marian Hossa against Tampa. This goal was bananas and one can’t believe the skill it takes to actually pull this one off. It’s simply crazy!

Next, another Blackhawk with an amazing goal. Kris Versteeg double dangles this one into the back of the net. He left the defenders searching for their jocks.

And last but not least, we have Johnny Boychuck absolutely destroying Matt Stajan and sending him up into the cheap seats. Massive hit!

Morning sports fans, Champ here with his weekly addition of the WHAMMY of the Week. This week we don’t have a big hit or a good fight as the Whammy… but it’s more of a Whammy in the pants. During the December 6th Anaheim Ducks-Ottawa Senators game, Ryan Getzlaf fires a shot off the glass which rebounds off a stanchion and heads straight into the net.



WHAMMY… Brian Elliot would definitely like to have that one back…

Burgundy here: A bit of business to take care of first. If you’ve been following Justin Kendrick of TheHockeyCardShow.com (@Hockeycardshow) and I on Twitter (@Stay_Classy), you might have known a bet was made for Tuesday’s Leafs-Sens game. The bet? The supporter of the losing team must film a beer chug. Please click here to see Justin admit the Leafs suck and drink a pint of beer in approximately 43 seconds. Highly recommended! Afternoon sportsfans, this week Champ decided to leave the hit parade for a bit to honour the NHL’s newest enforcer Matt Carkner.

“Big Country” as he’s being referred to in Ottawa can really throw ‘em with the right and the left as seen in Thursday night’s game versus the Philadelphia Flyers. Ian Laperriere found out the hard way that Carkner is one tough ombre. Until next week.

Morning sportsfans, this week’s Whammy comes at the expense of Victor Hedman… again. He seems to be a favorite target amongst the Ottawa Senators.

First Anton Volchenkov introduced him to the NHL a few weeks ago and now Chris Neil showed him that you always have to be aware when you’re behind the net. And to all the Tampa Bay Lightning players who in the post-game interviews say it was a dirty hit, get your eyes examined. Chris Neil:

A. Did not leave his feet
B. Hit Hedman flush in the chest. ‘Nuff said.
